The garbage truck

This afternoon a friend of mine sent me this e-mail and I thought many can benefit from it ....so true!!

I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so "Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't."

Frail...feeble

I have always read the words feeble and frail in stories I used to read...but never did I fully understand the terms until I looked at my mom recently she is getting very frail(although she has two sisters who are very near her age) one two years older and one two years younger!
When I hold her hand it is so light, her shoulders are so small but really when I hold her hands or try to embrace her I feel she is so frail.
Subhanllah you never know the full meaning of some words until you actually see for real.

In Quran there is an ayah about strength after weakness and weakness after strength....it is so real when you look at helpless baies who have grown into men and women...and men and women who have grown into old ,tired ,frail individuals.

I wonder how old we will get and how will we end up,I do hope we can help our parents in their old age, before its too late!!

Old enough to play with the gang

We went on a trip and during the day with the hot sun in Saudi Arabia we couldn't go out so we had to keep the kids busy with some activities and the baby felt it was time he joined the gang!!

Kids...aren't what you think they are

My daughter stayed over for few days ,she has been telling me during her visits that her daughter was giving her a hard time...but when they stayed over for a few days I said may Allah help her with her,she really is a head-ache!!
The new baby is really making her feel forgotten so she does all she can to attract attention even if that ends in getting some sort of punishment....

Poor girl ,we did have some fun though ,this afternoon we made some spinach pies and she had her own wooden roller and kept showing me how she was good at rolling dough...maybe tomorrow we should make some cookies together...it's so much fun being a granny...you see her mom has to do all the cleaning up for her after our adventures LOL!!

Icing disaster

I decided to cheer up some people so I went into the kitchen to make some cinnamon rolls...I did and they turned out nice(forgot to take a photo),then when it came time to make the icing I apparently used the wrong utensil...or am I just too hasty as my daughter says!!
TAKE I:
I have this Braun mixer where the cup you use is not stabilised by anything and I put some kiri cheese squares(the cause of the disaster) plus icing sugar and some milk, during the mixing process I kinda lost my hold on the cup and ooooops some of the icing went flying away (everywhere),alhamdulillah I have a maid I called the poor lady and asked her to clean up while I presented the first batch of cinnamon rolls to my cousin.

TAKE II:
My grandkids came in the afternoon and since I had already ran out of icing sugar in the morning I asked my daughter to get some with her,to make more icing for the second batch...that is when I decided to play the role of a real grandma ...you know the nice kind one that makes sweets for her grandkids and allows them into the kitchen with her to watch!??
My granddaughter was asking me:" why don't you add eggs to the mix?" so I turned my head just for a split second to answer when the whole cup just swerved and the foil cover I made for it moved and this time with the cup full half of the icing just flew all over covering my appliances, myself and the poor little girl in the back,I called my daughters for help and when i turned my back the poor girl's hair and her new blouse were covered with icing and she had this funny face her mom usherd her to the bathroom quickly to wash her up(sadly we didnt catch the moment but here she is after being washed up!!

Moral of the story??well I turned up to look like a very bad baking granny(although I am very good cook and baker)!!

Happiness

What is happiness??

Happiness is the ability to give...it is the ability to cope with what you have and the ability to thank our Creator for all the bounties He has given us.

Happiness is very delicate term because it is the way you look at it...some people think happiness is money and others think its happiness to be carefree, others think simply to roam from place to place is happiness......but did you ever see the hard-working poor people....they are happy just to finish the work and get some rest...

Happiness is very difficult to define!!

Photos

I was looking through some recent photos and this came up: my granddaughter and my cousin's granddaughter who happen to be also cousins...lol

I started thiking what will their lives be like in say 20 years??Will they still stay friends as their mothers still are? Will they live in the same city??How will their characters evolve??

We don't chose our fates but we sure can make a difference by putting some effort into our own children's upbringing...trying to make them into strong responsible human beings... and the rest??Well that is left to what their fate is!!
