Look around you

Look around...... and tell me do you really really know the people around you??

You're family,your neighbors,your friends??

You'll be surprised, believe me you will find that many of them say things they never mean, and many give promises they can never fulfill, and worst of all some of them don't even have the right value for you.

Look around and review your relations perhaps you will wake up and do something for yourself this time instead of being the one giving all the time thinking that all the people really know the value of your relation or friendship!!

My neighbor called yesterday for a surprise party for her three daughters and she asked me to giftwrap their presents I had to giftwrap them identical(because of the envy between the girls) yet different so I decided to use different colors according to each girl's preferance....

Summer clean-up!!

I couldn't have chosen a more unappropriate time to do this but I need more space and since I am a hoarder I have so much junk thta needs to be sorted and most will be sent where some people can make use of it and the rest to the garbage.
I did ask a very neat friend of mine a long time ago how she kept her house so tidy and she said:"throw away everything you are not using."
Should've litened to her :)

Mom going away!!

My mom is leaving for a month or two,she is going to Jeddah but I have an empty feeling although its for a short time she has grown so attached to us but I feel she needs the change .She hasn't seen her sister and brother and her other grandchildren and I feel its better for her to leave for a short while and have a change of scenery. She had always loved being in Jeddah and hated Alkhobar, but with old age place doesn't matter anymore...
People are picky when young but seems as we get older the choices are limited for a number of reasons!
I really hope she has a nice time there and I really hope I can finish some noisy tasks I need to do to make some adjustments to the house.
Happy journey mom,love you!!

The garbage truck

This afternoon a friend of mine sent me this e-mail and I thought many can benefit from it ....so true!!

I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us. My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!" This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets. The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day. Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so "Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't."

Frail...feeble

I have always read the words feeble and frail in stories I used to read...but never did I fully understand the terms until I looked at my mom recently she is getting very frail(although she has two sisters who are very near her age) one two years older and one two years younger!
When I hold her hand it is so light, her shoulders are so small but really when I hold her hands or try to embrace her I feel she is so frail.
Subhanllah you never know the full meaning of some words until you actually see for real.

In Quran there is an ayah about strength after weakness and weakness after strength....it is so real when you look at helpless baies who have grown into men and women...and men and women who have grown into old ,tired ,frail individuals.

I wonder how old we will get and how will we end up,I do hope we can help our parents in their old age, before its too late!!

Kids...aren't what you think they are

My daughter stayed over for few days ,she has been telling me during her visits that her daughter was giving her a hard time...but when they stayed over for a few days I said may Allah help her with her,she really is a head-ache!!
The new baby is really making her feel forgotten so she does all she can to attract attention even if that ends in getting some sort of punishment....

Poor girl ,we did have some fun though ,this afternoon we made some spinach pies and she had her own wooden roller and kept showing me how she was good at rolling dough...maybe tomorrow we should make some cookies together...it's so much fun being a granny...you see her mom has to do all the cleaning up for her after our adventures LOL!!

Icing disaster

I decided to cheer up some people so I went into the kitchen to make some cinnamon rolls...I did and they turned out nice(forgot to take a photo),then when it came time to make the icing I apparently used the wrong utensil...or am I just too hasty as my daughter says!!
TAKE I:
I have this Braun mixer where the cup you use is not stabilised by anything and I put some kiri cheese squares(the cause of the disaster) plus icing sugar and some milk, during the mixing process I kinda lost my hold on the cup and ooooops some of the icing went flying away (everywhere),alhamdulillah I have a maid I called the poor lady and asked her to clean up while I presented the first batch of cinnamon rolls to my cousin.

TAKE II:
My grandkids came in the afternoon and since I had already ran out of icing sugar in the morning I asked my daughter to get some with her,to make more icing for the second batch...that is when I decided to play the role of a real grandma ...you know the nice kind one that makes sweets for her grandkids and allows them into the kitchen with her to watch!??
My granddaughter was asking me:" why don't you add eggs to the mix?" so I turned my head just for a split second to answer when the whole cup just swerved and the foil cover I made for it moved and this time with the cup full half of the icing just flew all over covering my appliances, myself and the poor little girl in the back,I called my daughters for help and when i turned my back the poor girl's hair and her new blouse were covered with icing and she had this funny face her mom usherd her to the bathroom quickly to wash her up(sadly we didnt catch the moment but here she is after being washed up!!

Moral of the story??well I turned up to look like a very bad baking granny(although I am very good cook and baker)!!

Happiness

What is happiness??

Happiness is the ability to give...it is the ability to cope with what you have and the ability to thank our Creator for all the bounties He has given us.

Happiness is very delicate term because it is the way you look at it...some people think happiness is money and others think its happiness to be carefree, others think simply to roam from place to place is happiness......but did you ever see the hard-working poor people....they are happy just to finish the work and get some rest...

Happiness is very difficult to define!!

Photos

I was looking through some recent photos and this came up: my granddaughter and my cousin's granddaughter who happen to be also cousins...lol

I started thiking what will their lives be like in say 20 years??Will they still stay friends as their mothers still are? Will they live in the same city??How will their characters evolve??

We don't chose our fates but we sure can make a difference by putting some effort into our own children's upbringing...trying to make them into strong responsible human beings... and the rest??Well that is left to what their fate is!!

The sting

Amazing what some people whom you think are closest to you could do for their own personal gain.......I am flabergasted(moved with a jolt)but then again I have been told by my hubby to be ready for ANY move from ANYBODY and to be wary....but I am very down-to-earth person I really take things for what they are worth and words for their direct meaning......

Looks like you never know when the next sting will come from?!

We have an arabic saying to beware of your foe once and to be ware of your friend TWICE....well....didn't know it could also be beware of your relatives twice!???The nearest relatives??

Life is a school we learn everyday until we die actually...

Life is all about patience

Everyday we learn new things but a lot of times this learning comes with a lot of hurt..
The thing is to know that you have to pay attention to certain words that are being said during these times cause they sure are loaded, with information that will help you understand things that have been up to that point unclear!!

although we get more baby girls usually in my neighborhood!

Shop at home

My venture in making a bag and accessories shop failed drastically as the location of the shop was a poor choice, also considering I couldn't find someone to stay there fulltime...so we decided to join shops,so now its a toy and gift shop...

I had to transfer most of my merchandise back home where I made my own gift shop...a lot of organising and work was involved until it looked like presentable still got a lot of work going so I will post a picture of it when I am through with it inshallah.
I turned it into a real gift shop meaning I will wrap gifts for any client besides having my own ready-wrapped newborn gifts...

Eventually I will also have ready wrapped gifts for young girls and teens inshallah.

The sea....and loneliness

We were enjoying the seaside when this guy and his daughter came and stood right in front of us...I felt the girl was very lonely and many stories came to my head as I looked at the two...

Is her mom recently seperated?was she hospitalised?was she deceased??many questions went through my head and I couldn't help but take a shot of the two of them...

The dad was really very patient while the girl played alone...throwing rocks in the sea..running..but believe me although they weren't that close to us ..... I did get sad vibes from where they stood.

The dad stood by his girl while she played, in between mobile phone calls and cigarettes....
I do hope her mom is ok ad that this is only a short lonely trip....very lonely indeed!!

Masculine versus feminine

A friend posted this on facebook oh it's sooooo funny and sooooo true!!

Masculine -vs- Feminine
A Spanish teacher was explaining to her class that in Spanish, unlike English, nouns are designated as either masculine or feminine.

"House" for instance, is feminine: "la casa."

"Pencil," however, is masculine: "el lapiz."

A student asked, "What gender is a 'computer'?"

Instead of giving the answer, the teacher split the class into two groups, male and female, and asked them to decide for themselves whether "computer" should be a masculine or a feminine noun.

Each group was asked to give four reasons for its recommendation.

The men's group decided that "computer" should definitely be of the feminine gender ("la computadora"), because:

1. No one but their creator understands their internal logic;

2. The native language they use to communicate with other computers is incomprehensible to everyone else;

3. Even the smallest mistakes are stored in long term memory for possible later retrieval; and

4. As soon as you make a commitment to one, you find yourself spending half your paycheck on accessories for it.

(THIS GETS BETTER!)

The women's group, however, concluded that computers should be Masculine ("el computador"), because:

1. In order to do anything with them, you have to turn them on;

2. They have a lot of data but still can't think for themselves;

3. They are supposed to help you solve problems, but half the time they ARE the problem; and

4. As soon as you commit to one, you realize that if you had waited a little longer, you could have gotten a better model.

The women won.
